72 gas pedal

The LMC truck catalog shows the gas pedal has a return spring on the pedal rod for 71-72 trucks. Is that stock? My truck doesn't have one.

By rod, I mean the piece of bent metal on which pedal itself is mounted, not the linkage between the pedal and the carb.
