Speedo cable needs lubed
hows the best way to get the speedometer cable lubed ? i,ve always pulled the inside cable out of the outside cable housing and used white lithium grease and lubed it good while pushing the inside cable back in. i,ve never done the 67-72 chevy truck cable before and was looking for any tips someone might have. i know i,ll have to pull the gauge cluster away from the dash ( good time to install my tach dash lol ) anyway help is appreciated.

Re: Speedo cable needs lubed
I bought a metal can of dry graphite, has aball in in it that keeps the solution in suspension, it also has a needle point about 3" long. If you take it off at the speedo, and apply from the top, gravity should do the rest...J.

Re: Speedo cable needs lubed
Dumb question in response: Will lubing it prevent needle hopping?

Re: Speedo cable needs lubed
I borrowed a tool once from a buddy....you pulled the cable off the trans and screwed it to the tool....then hooked a drill up and spun it while you pumped grease into the tube....cool older GM shop tool.
