It's mine!!! '87 C10 swb

Well... I recently had to sell my prized '02 Z71

Sooo... After driving a boring car around for a couple months, I convinced the wife I needed a new daily driver. I just won this puppy off of EBAY tonight and I am stoked!!!

Here's the EBAY link for more pics:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

She's gonna look good with a 3/5 drop and some 20" Coy's.

Sweet truck with a great price. If the paint is as nice as it looks you got a smokin deal.

Re: It's mine!!! '87 C10 swb

Thanks for all the compliments.

Malo83, I second the sport bumpers, that will be probably be the first thing.

N2TRUX, Coming from the guy with the nicest C10 ever it's reassuring to hear I might have gotten a good deal. I'm picking it up probably Saturday in Southern Arkansas but I'll be nervous until then. The guys I bought it from tinker with these trucks quite a bit and from what he told me about the paint, it was done right (ppg base/clear, trim removed, jambed etc...) We'll see!

Nice looking truck. I never would have thought of a gold exterior with the maroon interior, but the combination doesn't look bad at all.

Oh, just curious, but the eBay ad says 305 engine with a TH400 trans... is that really a factory combo?????? On an '87???? I would have expected a 700R4.

yes it is. i almost bought an 87 a few years back with a 4.3/400.

before bumpers, dropping it, or wheels, i'd be ditching that 400 in favor of a 700r4 or a 2004r since its a DD

Re: It's mine!!! '87 C10 swb

That Th400 is really a TH375. Good looking truck should get little better mileage with the O/D. I would keep the Th375 for backup tho.

Either those pictures are deceptive or you scored one hell of a deal. Beautiful truck, congrats!

If it is as good as it looks you bought a paint job and they threw the truck in for free...

Thumbs up Re: It's mine!!! '87 C10 swb

Congrat's nice truck!

I think the very first thing i'de do is get the wing windows tinted it looks goofy with the windows tinted and the wing's not tinted.

Is it me or doe's the paint above the tailgate handle look worn off i notice the seller didn't include a close up shot of the tailgate.

It's HOME!!! '87 C10 swb

So I picked up the truck this weekend after an 850 mile round trip towing a 20foot trailer. Who knew Arkansas was so dang long? We made it without incident except running out of gas once thanks to a faulty gas guage. Thank you AAA for getting our butts back on the road.

So here's my take on the truck. It's decent, but not as nice as the pictures appeared on from Ebay. I would say a solid 5-10 footer. I probably paid a little bit of a premium ($500-800 high), but when I compare it to what is out there, I feel pretty good.

Good things: Unmolested 305ci/TH400 drivetrain. Solid body with straight lines and no major work apparent. Truck drives good, shifts firm and the suspension is surprisingly free of rattles and squeaks. Shocks appear to be new and brakes work well. Interior is decent and heat/air work well.

Bad things: Paint is what I would call "driver quality". I can tell the prep was hurried because there are lots of rock chips down low and a some sanding scratches here and there. This might not be all bad considering I intend to drive it daily. There are quarter sized bubbles in the cab corners, but there is no rust through. Dual tanks don't work, shift indicator is broken, windshield needs replaced and seat foam is soft. Trim is original but straight.

A few things I will be in the market for: Shift indicator assembly, windshield, good seat foam, tank switching valve or fuel pump?

If anybody has recommendations on vendors for this stuff, or if you've got it, or advice on the dual tanks that would be great (Guage shows fuel, but dies when switched to right tank).

I'm feeling ok about the deal, but I want to hear it straight. Does everybody still think I got a decent deal at $5800?

Almost forgot, he threw in a 67-72 blazer rear tank kit for $100! Score!

Oh yeah, now I have to change my SIG!
