Bucket seats and shoulder belts

Does anyone have a picture of the clips or seatbelt holders that held the extra buckles on original trucks that came with bucket seats and shoulder belts? I have been told that there were some kind of holders that somehow attached to the console and just thought I would see if anyone out there had a pic? I know that on trucks with bench seats the extra belts just lay there, but apparently not on trucks with buckets.
Pics anyone?

Jeff

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

Jeff there was also a clip offered for the later cup style console 73-up. Sometimes they show up on ebay. The buckle simply snaps onto them to hold them in place. I don't have any pictures to send you unfortunately, but they a rather unimpressive.

I think the one in the picture came in blazers and trucks that did not have a console. They can also be found in vans.

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

This is the one that I have seen on blazer seats that didn't have consoles or sometimes on the later drink hold consoles had them mounted into the front of the console

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

I believe that is it Jay_shy!
I have the correct console with rectangle slots and it only holds 2 buckles, with the shoulder belts you have 2 extra that you have to store somewhere. I had a guy tell me that originally trucks with buckets and shoulder belts had 2 of these (jay_shys pic) mounted to the console to store the buckles in when not in use.
Anybody else remember seeing these? There probably aren't a lot of trucks out there that were originally equipped with both of those options but I thought I would ask.
Thanks guys

Jeff

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

Special-K, if you had them where would you mount them? Still wanting to know where they would have been mounted on a truck that had original shoulder belts , bucket seats and console.

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

I was going to mount them with the center hole in the buckle holder to the front two fasteners of the console. See attached pictures.

Jeff,I don`t know.Like you,I`d need this answered.I have a bench seat interior at the moment and have yet to install the shoulder belts. They`re not original to the truck.

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

I went back to the assembly manual and found the pic below, it shows the retainers mounted on the front but they don't look like the boots that many say were used. I do believe now that they should be mounted on the front of the console based on this pic, just not sure what they really look like. Surely somebody out there has seen these before?

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

Jeff, Those are the correct ones in your pic, I've looked high and low for a pair!! I did finally see an NOS set that the guy I got my NOS blue shoulder belts from had. They were black and would have been great for my black set of shoulder belts but there was no way he was going to turn loose of them.
I do have some that were GM accessory that are close to those, I'll post a pic if I can dig them out.

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

Here ya go Jeff, the box is labled as Shoulder Harness Retainer Unit, instruction sheet is dated 10-7-69 and these were for cars like the Nova and Chevelle.
They are retained with 2 screws and then the bottum cover folds up and snaps in place to cover the screws

Pete, Jeff took these but I believe I have another set, Ill do some searching and if I find them I'll give you the same deal, just pay shipping.
There's actually enough in a set of these to do 3 trucks.

Re: Bucket seats and shoulder belts

Sorry Jeff, I was away from the cpu over Thanksgiving break, but yes Blazerman is right, that is what these trucks came with if they had the shoulder belt assembly with buckets. I have the same setup on my blue and white truck. Just like Blazerman said as well, these came on the muscle cars as an option as well. Speaking of which, does anyone ever see blue shoulder belts??? I have a make shift set I made from a Caprice, but they are the dark blue. Anybody with bright blue belts??? Trevor

Interesting thread, I'd only seen the plastic clips for 67/68 trucks. I never knew there was some for 69 and up. Thanks for the good info guys.

Jeff, did you dye your's? I know this is an old thread, but I have a N.O.S. set that I bought from Roger Koop and they are black, I don't know if they were supposed to be black or interior color? Trevor
