78 camper special

back from the paint shop and some chrome pieses replaced. We went with a white center & hood instead of the saddle tan that it was spec'd at.
What do you think? Sorry sun was going down.

Looks good! If you're interested in a billet grille I'll trade you mine for the stock one on your truck Straight trade.

Are you looking for just the stock grille? I'll look around, i thought I had an extra somewhere, but were keeping this one stock.

Re: 78 camper special

Yeah I hear ya. And yes I'm looking for a stock grille. I heard the 80 grille is different than the earlier ones, but the kid I got it from told me it was a 79 front end. I really could care less as long as I get a stock grille back in there.

Re: 78 camper special

Great looking truck! I'd like to see some daytime pictures of it. I used to own a 77 K20 that was yellow and neutral, (what the tan was called at the paint store) and mine had the factory tape stripes on the hood. I really liked that color combo, but the white looks just as good! I love these earlier 73-80 squarebodies the best. They really look great when they are two-toned and have the trim on them in my opinion! ...Joe

Re: 78 camper special

Yep, that's what mine looked like alright, except mine was a 4x4, and I had the chrome modular wheels with the gold centers on it. Mine was a 77 and had the gold inlay on the trim. I really liked that truck, but after several Missouri winters, it started rusting out pretty badly, so I did a body swap to an 85 cab, 87 bed, and new 73-80 GM front sheetmetal. I never did get it finished though. My brother needed a truck, and since I had just bought a brand new one, and he had helped me do the body swap, I just gave it to him. As far as I know, he still has it. ...Joe

Ken were kicking it around, the originals were dark brown and a darker sand color but now the center & hood are white were not quite sure how that would look.

Those are tie down points for the camper, that is what makes it a "camper special", it also has popouts in the bed for a camper attachements.

Re: 78 camper special

The original color was what my father had on his 77 LWB. That sure brings back memories. I love that yellow and white two-tone you have done. Looks great!
