I wanna be like see-ten (photos inside)
So I was burbin around town last weekend and the truck was all washed and dolled up... I thought I'd burn 1/4 tank of gas and go here and there... places I have wanted to take pics of for years... well, truck pics anyways.
These are almost all on the west side of columbus, with a couple out of town too thrown in for the heck of it. If I had a better digi-cam, and a better subject... maybe I could contend with See-ten. Fist thing is first... thanks Josh and everyone else who makes this place work! Oh, and thanks Mr Gore for inventing the internet to give josh a place to create this board! Mid west members my age and older will smile on thse two.... back in the 70's, Mail Pouch had an amazing advertising idea, they offered thousands of farmers a free paint job on one side of there barn... they have all faded and many barns have been plowed over or just fell over by now... but this is a small one that has been re-painted recently. Just a few months ago actually. I had hoped to get there before the repaint, but I guess this is good enough. And yes, there is a dead something-or-another under the bumper... and no, I didn't kill it nor did I run over it when I pulled away. Now, I head to a pond off of Rt 104. Those are flood markers in the background... Had a couple the last few years. The Sioto River runs on the other side of those trees in the back ground of the first photo. and the ugly side; The security guard run me off after the 4th pic... total bummer. I had some more photo ideas in mind. Now, off to the old part of town... which is now the crappy part of town, but has a LOT of very old buildings. it's called the bottoms now, which gives you an idea of how crummy it is. I hear the Club Cafe (the sign over the door) was a cool place back in the day. Now it's a place you don't wanna be after night fall. And here I am parked in the parking lot of the first Wendys... recently closed down. This is in the down town Columbus area Last edited by Longhorn Man; 11-24-2007 at 01:19 PM. |

Re: I wanna be like see-ten (photos inside)
this one was taken at the rear of the shop of a local GM dealer. They have been at the same location since the 30's, and the oldest building in the county is just a block away. Very facinating history in this part of town.
And before you ask, the sign is not for sale... they've had some very high offers, but refuse to take it down. Oddly enough, the spagetti warehouse is still open... even though it doesn't look it. Nothing historical nor important about the building used as the backdrop... but it is across the street from a place I love to eat called Tommy's Diner. OK, outta the slum, and into a very expensive part of town called german village. Awesome historical importance, and the whole area is now protected under the ohio historical society. I took Neon Larry through here a few years ago, he thought it was beautifull too. I only clicked off a few pics before I had to get outta there. I was running late And then for sh!ts and giggles... Re: I wanna be like see-ten (photos inside)
OK, I fixed the pics.
That's my son... he was grounded so I was instructed to do anything he doesn't want to do. And he's never wanted to do the phot thing. (couple bad grades and he lied about them) CG, the part that sucked, i took about 40 pics that day, and all the ones of the ugly side came out great! All in focus, no blur (I swear I hate this camera) And LOL... I was wondering if you got that text! And thanks for the compliments guys Last edited by Longhorn Man; 11-24-2007 at 01:22 PM. |

Re: I wanna be like see-ten (photos inside)
I have learned from this site...when it comes to our trucks...you just can't take a bad picture. Hey Longhorn Man...it just doesn't seem natural to see one of our trucks in Ohio w/o rust all over it. Your Burb looks great.

Re: I wanna be like see-ten (photos inside)
When CG did that... I actually scrolled up to see if my name was onthe wall that I had posed in front of. I mean... I KNOW it wasn't... but I STILL had to look.
And the slam on it looks perfect with the wheels and tires i just put on there. (the longhorn hates my guts right now for doing that) I just took CG's PS pic, enlarged it a little, and now it is my desk top photo! Last edited by Longhorn Man; 11-24-2007 at 01:50 PM. |

Re: I wanna be like see-ten (photos inside)
great pics Andy, nice work CG.
I think the one pic where you parked in the bus stop is very appropriate, get used to it be called a school bus. (well it was!) also, I've noticed that you haven't put your rear view mirror back on yet
