72' K-10 Bbc!
Some History:I inhereted the truck from my Great Grandpa and it has been in the family since new in 72 when my uncle bought it.
Ya, its apart of me. I rember riding in it at the age of 5, when I put my claim on it. So the truck sat in the garage for 10 years until I got it running. My dad calls it Precious because I baby it so much. Except when it comes to rattling my pipes.Okay, here is whats been going on since I first got the truck out in 2004. I did a 4 inch supsension lift w/33", dynomax headers and mufflers with k&N filteer. CD player install. Last edited by green724x4; 11-24-2007 at 04:41 PM. |

Re: 72' K-10 Bbc!
I painted the bumper, this summer.
Just to give you an idea I am a Eagle Scout know so the pic with me in it is sort of old! I mostly just drove it through the summer and fall. At first I was going to buy a 4 wheeler but my mom convinced me that if I dont do my truck the way I want it now, it won't get done until after college. But know that it is winter, I have picked out what I want go with my truck. Here is the direction I am going. Big Block 427 (1970 454 LS4 with 427 crank) Forged rods and pistons. Steel Crank Motor was rebuilt and broke in 5 years ago. Only 50 miles on it. 160-165 psi dry 8.0:1 compression 124cc 454 emssions heads New Crane cam 112 lobe serperation Advertised Duration 286/296, Lift .534/.553 TH400 2500 sthall Running 93 octane Last edited by green724x4; 06-11-2008 at 10:35 PM. |

Re: 72' K-10 Bbc!
Thanks alot, got love the green.
My dad rebuilt the motor back in 1981 with Trw L2268 forged pistons with .266 dish and 1975 454 heads 124cc. It has been destroked to a 427 from the 454 and bored .60 over. Making it 431. I Last edited by green724x4; 06-11-2008 at 10:37 PM. |

Re: 72' K-10 Bbc!
Nice truck, seems like the 4x4s are getting more and more scarce. Where in MI are you from? I live in the Owosso, Corunna area. I've heard that Northwood is a very good school. I've had one go to SVSU and another is at Michigan State.
Good luck and keep up the progress.

Re: 72' K-10 Bbc!
Yeah, the FAFSA really does screw you if you are middle class. I was in the gap where my parents made too much money for me to get any grants, but they didn't make enough money to help me much at all for college. Also, my stepdad's income counted against me, although he never legally adopted me, and didn't help out with my college. I just started paying off my student loans a month ago, and will be for the next 5-10 years, haha.
It is true though that once you go to college you'll have little/no time for the truck. Mine has been sitting for almost 5 years now, I haven't had any time or money to work on it, and now its 700 miles away at my parent's house, haha. Oh well, when I get done with grad school (thank god I get paid to go to school now...not undergrad!) maybe I'll be able to work on it. Oh, if I remember right Northwood is in Midland. All of my family is from Midland and I was born there, although I grew up in Missouri and then moved even more south to Texas. I was there a few months ago and it seemed like a really nice little town. Good luck on your truck, looks great.

"If you can't pump the jack, you can't have a big block"
If that's not motivation, I don't know what it. Looks good man. So your a senior in HS? I'm a junior, know that truck/school balance all too well. |

Re: 72' K-10 Bbc!
amen to the school vs. truck conflict. i'm a sophomore in college, and luckily i can still work on the truck when money allows.
i made the choice to go to a tech. college here in town, so i could live at home, and help around here on the farm. it allowed me to write for a local paper, about cars, and since i'm going into journalism...it all falls into place. and as far as FAFSA goes...-cringe-. just -cringe-. i feel ya man, no worries. keep at 'er, it's a gorgeous truck with a great story. -Sam.
