Got me a new truck! 1984 Chevy flatbed dually

Found this on the Dallas Craigslist, it was in Midlothian, TX. It's a 1984 Chevy Custom Deluxe flatbed, it's got a 454 and a 4 speed and this truck is low mileage and all original. Hell it even has the factory jack with the huge lug wrench still on the inner fender! We finally got home at 9:00 last night, we drove it about 60 the whole way and it drove great. The engine is in great condition, it holds about 50 to 60lbs of oil pressure when warmed up and doesn't burn a drop of oil. The clutch is like new and the tranny shifts great. The paint is original, it's never been repainted. It's had the flatbed since new and was built by Granbury Welding in Granbury, TX. The interior is really nice, all it's gonna need is a dash pad later down the road. These are the pics from the ad, tell me what y'all think! I'll try to get some new ones soon.

Re: Got me a new truck! 1984 Chevy flatbed dually

Thanks y'all. I'm gonna drive it like it is once I get it inspected and insured. The license stiker expired in Feb. of this year and the last inspection was in '05! I'm gonna use it to haul my welding machine when I need it and to pull trailers. Anyway it needs a front end alignment bad, both tires have the inside tread wore down to the steel belts. It also needs a driver's door window(broken), the power steering pump is leaking(needs to be rebuilt), and the exhaust manifold-to-pipe donuts deteriorated so this truck is LOUD, it sounds awesome going through the gears and even better downshifting it!

While an alignment is probably a good idea it may not need one but id'e still have it done and then you know for sure the truck is gonna go straight.

Alot of times inside tire ware is caused from worn out shocks so ya may want to replace them when you get the new tires.

It goes down the road straight and doesn't wander so yeah it might just be the shocks. I'm just gonna get two used tires for the front Monday, all four rear tires are almost new with no dryrot. Oh yeah we paid $1500 cash for this truck

Re: Got me a new truck! 1984 Chevy flatbed dually

Well today I put some used marker lights on the cab but i'll probably change 'em out for new ones soon. I started to replace the exhaust donut gaskets but it got dark so it'll have to wait. After that the power steering pump needs a rebuild, and for some reason the horn wont work and keeps blowing the fuse, not sure what's going on there.

Re: Got me a new truck! 1984 Chevy flatbed dually

Well I did some more work on it today. I changed out the brush guard yesterday actually, today I put both donut gaskets on the exhaust. The manifolds are leaking at the heads so now it needs new gaskets there. I'll also file the manifold flanges down to true 'em up which is probably also why their leaking, looks like there's a little surface rust on 'em. The horn relay was messed up or something, I took it apart and put it back on and now the horn works. All that's left is the power steering pump and the driver's window. I got a window at the boneyard I just need the setting gasket to put it in the window channel.

Re: Got me a new truck! 1984 Chevy flatbed dually

Got the window taken care of today, we took it to the auto glass shop and they set it in the channel then me and Dad got it installed in the door. I got the passenger side exhaust manifold gasket replaced over the weekend and filed down the ports on the manifold, the driver side should be done tomorrow I hope. The dam% A.I.R. injector flare nuts are rusted tight to the manifold and i've been soaking 'em with PB Blaster since Sunday.
