AC pic request

I'd like to see some pics of restored or original untouched AC systems from under the hood, and some pics of the condenser and compressor mounting.
I want my AC system to look as factory original as possible.

this is my system. it is a vintage air. it looks better than factory. it cleans up the passenger side firewall. it comes with all instructions for installation. including templates for cutting holes in the dash. it cools to 43 degrees on the hottest days. i am completely satisfied with this system!!!!

thanks for the compliment!!!! my under the hood project is under way. it will be more detailed by spring. good luck on finding what you need to complete the a/c.

If you will locate some duplicolor cast blast and really scrub your a/c box- wait till wife is not home and let it soak in the bath tub. The cast blast keeps the color very close to original and still allows the "grain" of the fiber glass to show through. This will get the outerbox back to standards- purchase a new seal kit from any of the venders and also detail all of the little claps in a semi flat black, as well as the back of the a/c box (the metal). Contact Jimk4x4shortstep about procedure to test POA valve and detail using cast coat - different color (darker) from Martin Senior detail line and rustoleum silver metalic to detail Poa valve. Search some of venders or camaro parts venders for the insulation wrap that covers the sensor for the other valve- high pressure side GM has discontinued it so it was more difficult to find this time around. IF you really want to go all out get the correct tower clamps and search out the correct vaccum pot for the side of the box, ones offered by venders are later 70's/80's type which look like a ball. You can also get the correct vacuum lines from people like Rick's Camaro parts or you can get some that is close from neighborhood parts store. You will also need,to do it back to original specs, the drain hose OPG $4.95 with correct clamp (camaro catalog) and some white striped vacuum line to go from vacuum reservior to the engine. If you need pictures let me know, I have one box on my 71 Super - recently asked if it were NOS, and another ready to be installed on 72 4x4.

The last pic looks darn nice! It must be a 69-70. Here are a few pics of my 72. notice the different compressor mounting brackets for the long water pump engine.

The brackets may be different in the 70-72 CPU than the 67-69 - GM used a short water pump all the way until 72 in the trucks and went to long water pump in 73 and changed the alternator to the passenger side and the compressor was on the drivers side.

powell72, your truck looks great too! I am particularly fond of that color. My last 72 was that color & I think it is the best color! I don't even know the name of the yellow on mine. It is a stock 72 color. Good luck with the stock A/C. I think those details make all of the difference!
