Re: 73-89 crewcabs
From my experience here in Texas if someone wanted a HD 4x4 they bought a K-20 or K-30single wheel. If they wanted to pull a trailer, etc they opted for a C-30 dually.

Re: 73-89 crewcabs
Yeah, crew cabs were definitely geared more towards dually tow rigs. I think the sheer size and wheel base doesn't make it that great of hardcore offroad vehicle but 4x4 is still useful even for a tow rig, such a getting out of a stick situation like a slippery boat ramp and plenty were ordered this way as well.
These trucks do exist, you just gotta be patient and look around a little. |

Re: 73-89 crewcabs
Great place to find crew cabs are municipal and utility company/contractor auctions. Most are heavy duty and bare bones. Contractor trucks are usually beat up, while state trucks are usually a little better. Most of the state trucks, at least in Pa., have service bodies on them.

N2TRUX is correct, Texas is a great place to find these thucks. I bought my 89 crew cab 4x4 from Temple Texas which is a 12 hour drive from me.
My truck was bought by a rancher new and it was special ordered and he kept it in good shape and it is loaded with options. The best thing is this truck is 100% rust free. here is a list of options on my truck 89 crew cab 4x4 silverado 6.2 diesel 4 speed trans tilt cruise power windows power door locks factory carpet factory vinyl seats working a/c locked in the rear one peice rockwell steel wheels dual tanks |
