Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

Just looking for ideas for my project. Either 4/6 drop (spindles/springs) or 3/5 drop. I have a 69 long bed building from the ground up.

Thanks in advance.

What was the specs on your truck in these pics? Were the wheels and tires the same size?

Stock height. 275/60/15 on 10" rims at all 4 corners were the specs in those pics. I wanted a narrower track up front and was concerned about rubbing is why I went smaller when I dropped it. I also had to use some narrow wheel spacers to clear the front control arms when it was dropped.

Re: Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

Hmm 3.5"/6" drop looks good as well. Okay now need some advice. I am building a 69 long bed. Will not tow anything or haul anything. Won't be using airbags. Probably want to run a 18" rim, not sure of tires. I kinda want an even drop between front and rear. I will be changing the rear crossmember to tuck my exhaust. I don't want to c-notch the frame. Okay so which drop can I run without any problems?

Re: Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

2/4 or maybe 3/5 is about the best you are going to do without notching the frame. I have heard of people running 6" drops in the rear without a notch but I imagine most of them bottom out on the frame going over big bumps. Installing the notch is pretty straightforward... I would do that and go with a 4/6. As far as tires go, 255/50R-17 (27") in the front and 275/50R-17's (27.9") in the back works perfectly. I was looking at 18's at one point and Nitto has some good sizes for an 18" wheel in their 555 series. Either one of these combos would work fairly good... Combo 1 - Front: 245/45R18 (26.6") and Rear: 285/40R-18(27") or Combo 2 - Front 255/45R-18 (27") and Rear: 295/45R-18 (28.3").

Re: Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

I guess if I was going to c-notch the frame I would also make it a short bed. Then I am getting into a different kind of project then I initially wanted. I like the 3.5"/6 drop or even the 4/6. I don't want to bottom out in the back so a notch is what I have to do.

Anyone in BC that knows someone who can shorten my long bed? And what price I am looking at. I live in Abbotsford.

Yes and also, anyone know about the inspection with a c-notch and a shortened frame here in BC? My truck will have to be inspected when completed.

Re: Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

My brother and I each have 4/6 drops from Early Classic, with no c-notches and no bottoming out issues. And we have some pretty rough roads out here You do have to shave the rubber bump stops in the rear to about 1/8" below the frame rail though.

Re: Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

Here mine. Mine was a 3/4 ton but is a 1/2 ton now. I dropped for rear about 6+ inches and the front 2+ inches. I running 275/60/17, so they are a little taller(29+) but they do fill it up. I've got about 2" travel in the back and alot more in the front.

I've had a half dozen or so of these trucks with 4/6 drop. Never c notched one yet, and never felt the need to do so either.

Re: Show me pictures of your 4/6 drop... Please

As you can see my 70' is sitting pretty low. This is a static drop, no notch and no bags. I just trim until I achieve a look that I like. I would say with out a doubt this is 4/6' drop at least. The truck handles great, no tire scub and no rear end bottom out. Was able to almost achieve a 100% wheel alignment as well. This is great considering one cannot get a coffee can under the front bumper!

esll.

I don't have any pics of mine with the drop yet, but here's my brother's stepside. The tires are 255/60R17 front with an 8" rim, and 285/60R17 rear with a 9.5" rim. I have the same tire and rim sizes, but my truck is a short fleetside.

I'm definitely going to subscride to this thread. I'm having difficulty determining which drop I would like to do, but after working with lolife99, I think I'm going to go with the 4/6.

Sweet looking trucks guys!

Beautiful truck 71see10!

Your brother's trucks looks awesome! I love the 17" natural finish Torq Thrusts. It has the old school look I love so much with advantages of bigger wheels.
