New to the 73-87 pickup board

Hey folks,

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I’m new to this board but I'm not new to old chevys. I've had a 71 Blazer and an 80 C20 in the past. I just recently(last two weeks) picked up a K30. It's a 78 1 Ton Duelly 4x4 double cab with the 350/SM465/NP205 running the D60/D70s. I've attached some pictures for your perusal.

I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you all might be able to help me with:

1. I need to replace the rubber guide channels for the front windows. It takes 2 hands and some elbow grease to roll them up and down. Who makes a good set that will last. Or does it make sense after 30 years of use to replace the whole mechanism?

2. Wiring diagram. Do any of you have a wiring diagram? The PO was in the midst of adding on an AC system that I need to remove. But currently the heater motor doesn't work either.

3. I'd also like to, some day, do a SM465/TH400 swap. Besides the standard adapter and cross member hassles, are there any other major issues?

Here she is:

Hope you all have a good day...

Crazy15,

Both the front and the back are Reunel. They are up in Yuba City, Ca.

Here's their website: www.reunel.com

very nice truck.. ive found second hand window cranks from board members here that work very well i cant see spending the money from the vendors but you have to be a suscribing member to post a wtb thread ( its the best money youll spend regarding these trucks) otherwise LMC sells repro ones

Awesome crewcab! Your best bet would be to try to grease the mechanism and if that doesn't work they'll probably need replacing.

Welcome to the boards. Doesn't look like much is going to slow your truck down... Looks great.

Chev74,

I agree the 465 is all that and more. However, my wife likes the truck too much to let only me drive it. With a soaking wet 100lb 4'11'' frame, she struggles muscling the 465 around.
