Crossmember Question

I hope this isn't too dumb sounding , BUT...... I am wondering about a lighter front crossmember , not going LOW just curious about weight advantage ?
does anybody make a replacement front x member not intended for scrapping frames (Bags and all) I want to use my truck as a truck , towing etc.
so I don't want a car front end (as cool as they look) just wont work for me.
are the stock crossmembers really several hundred pounds ?
Ideas ? Thanks !

Re: Crossmember Question

i don't think the front x-member is really a place to save weight. The only thing that "looks" lighter would be a MII setup. The stock crossmember isn't several hundred pounds though. I spent some time picking up my stock crossmember during my built. I would be surprised if it weighed 100 pounds.

Bare xmember (no suspension parts) is barely 40#. I shipped one across the country for less than $30. They just "feel" heavy because of the grease and grime on them
