Lakewood traction bars

I'm looking into a set of these for my truck...

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10002_70512_-1

First question would be has anyone used them? Pictures?

Second question is that I'm not sure how it mounts up. My truck does not have a flip kit, and I don't intend to flip it, but it is lowered. Is this gonna cause a problem? If anyone can help explain to me how this would bolt up to my truck without having a flip kit, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

Re: Lakewood traction bars

they have 2 small D-bolts that go around your leaf springs in front and behinde your axle and attach to the 2 tabs sticking up with holes in them. then your axle sits between the 2 tabs on the traction bar. I had some on a 75 c-10 and they worked ok. But I think these ( http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/me...gory_Code=SUSP) work much much better. you get what you pay for.. IMO
I hope this helps, Ryan

Re: Lakewood traction bars

Ditch the Lakewood idea, spend the money and get the Cal-tracs as Ryan suggested.

"slapper" bars, as traction bars are often referred to, don't work that great anyhow.

Re: Lakewood traction bars

Yeah I figured the Caltracs were a better product, I was just hoping people had good experiences with the Lakewoods. I'm on kind of a tight budget, but I guess I'll just save the money and get the Caltracs later on down the road. Thanks for the help guys!

Red face Re: Lakewood traction bars

iVE NEVER HAD CALTRACS, BUT IVE HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM .

Iput the Lakewoods on my 84 & reduced my 60 ft. time by close to 1/2 second. Iseriosly dont think my truck (with maybe 400 hp) would have hooked up any better if Ihad spent another 240.00 for caltracs.

Do as you like , but Iwould rather use the 250.00 for other performance goodies.

Ifeel caltracs would be worth the xtra money if you were pashing closer to 500 hp & 400-450 torqe . only my experience & opinion here . Hope this helps with your decision
