Seats done, fender fixed, grill painted

Well, I finally fixed the dented fender from my wheel falling off mishap....got some longer studs, so it won't be happening again!

Got the seat back from the upholsterer...turned out nice. Had the inserts for the doors done with the lighter Grey as well.

Since I had the front end apart to fix the fender, I decided to paint the grill a few shades darker Grey and I like the way it turned out...more aggressive looking.

Also installed some insulation on the underside of the hood which made a big difference in engine heat transfer to the hood, pretty much eliminated engine sound from outside and also gave the hood that "quality" thud sound when closing it instead of that "tinny" sound. As I said in a previous thread...it's definately function over form, but it looks alright.

Re: Seats done, fender fixed, grill painted

the interior looks amazing, and I'm glad to see the front end back in shape.

The wheels really turned out nice as well.

Beautiful truck SactoJim!

Is that a blower I see under there?
That's a sharp truck, real classy.

I traced the curvature of the back supports on some paper, but the rest was easy. This is the same stuff I used inside as well and you see it for sale at all the swap meets...comes in a roll (4'X6' I believe).

Got the insulation at Tognotti's (local speed shop), but it can be had at most swap meets and I've seen it on Ebay as well. I just used 3M spray adhesive ($15 a can, for this purpose) that I picked up at AutoZone. I also made an aluminum support that runs down the middle rib.

Seats are out of a early 90's chev truck (60/40) and I payed $650 to get the seats done and door panel inserts covered.

Minor mods make all the difference sometime. Those seats are very comfortable also.

Re: Seats done, fender fixed, grill painted

SactoJim, I think your truck has the perfect look. You're somewhat original with the lower trim and emblems and a somewhat original color. And then you have a set of classy wheels that aren't too big with just the right amount of sidewall on the tires. I think the stance is nailed perfect and it's something that I hope to aspire too when I get mine done. Only thing mine is a longbed, but I've seen how cool those can be too. Thanks for the pictures.

Re: Seats done, fender fixed, grill painted

Thanks again all for the compliments......as said before, it's the little "ataboys" that keep the fire going that has dwindled to a flicker many times during this whole restoration project!
