firewall padding

well i have been trying to get the padding in my firewall in for about a weeknow and i have had no luck. i know thoses plastic things are soposted to go thorugh the firewall and snap in place but i have taken a hammer to it and it still will not snap in.
any advise on how to get these things in?

There is a tool, looks like a phillips headed screw driver that has been shortened. You can make one yourself with cheapy driver cut it off or not, insert it through the hole and use the handle to push the retainer through. I used dawn dish detergent on mine when I put them back for ease and it was handy. Hope this helps.

yeah i tried that but it juss went stait through and broke the head off...
i went to advance and got 2 plastic things like it and they went right in but they are way to short...but i will try using dish detergent

I have not tried it yet but was told at a booth that sold them to heat them up with a torch. Waring gloves so you can handle them. Just be careful not to melt them. He said a hair dryer works but not as good.

buy some aftermarket heat/sound deadner comes in a roll, u can use adhesive or some come with a stick backing, thats what im going to use on the entire cab when i get to that point, jegs/summit sells it. i wouldnt mess with that oem stuff, just my 2cents

yea im using that too but my dad wanted to use the firewall pad
but i think we got if for the most part
we just got a file and worked them down to where they fit
