72 Cheyenne WIW?
We went and looked at this pickup earlier today. It's a one owner (well one family with two owners) 90K mile truck. She was about as unmolested as they come. The truck even had the smog pump with the belt still on it. The camper shell has been on it since it was new so the inside of the bed was cherry. The tailgate was about as perfect as I've seen on one of these trucks in quite some time. The owner was including an ECE 4/6 drop (the front was already installed) It still needs the rear done as well as a front end alignment. The owner also still has the orginal hubcaps that will go with it. The only real rust issues I could find were the cab corners and the doors. It had very minor rust behind the front wheels and of course under the battery. Oh did I mention it's a factory big block and factory A/C truck. Everything but the belt is there for the A/C. The owner said that the compressor was rattling so he cut off the belt. Once the truck warms up it purrs like a kitten. Also when the drop was put on the front all the balljoints and tie rods were replaced. The truck also has new exhaust and a fresh battery and a tune up. I would probably have driven it home tonight if it wasn't for the alignment issue. At anything over 35 MPH I couldn't hold it in the road if their was a bump or a dip. Do you think we could get a tape measure and try to set the toe close enough to drive it or am I pretty much looking at finding a trailer or a dolly? Again, how cheap would it have to be for you to haul it home?

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
Pretty rusty truck for my neck of the woods. -$500 for the drop . I paid $1200 for a similar truck 2 years ago (3/4 ton).

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
Take a 9/16 wrench and socket, ratchet, penetrating oil, channel locks and a tape to measure to adjust the toe. Or if you're not going far and you think you can drive it safe going slow, drive that way. You'll eat up the tires but I doubt you'll be keeping those.
I'd give 2K for it.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
about 1500-2000 would be alright, little too much rust but a running big block makes it worth it. good donor for a shortbed.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
Looks like the camber is off by the way the front tires are (or appear to be)leaning in at the top. That will cause some funky handling. But yeah you can set the toe roughly with a tape measure. Go for about 1/4 inch toe in.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
This trucks dead at 125 miles from home. I couldn't get it above 35 mph without sucking the seat cover up through my arse! I had a tape measure and tools with me but it was getting dark so we didn't mess with it. If I can figure out a way to haul it, I'll probably be going back for it. I have a feeling it won't be there long. Although I do think the having it moved issue will hold up any other buyers as it did to me. I would have probably just paid him for it last night but the title was in a safe deposit box.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
I think I`d dolly it for piece of mind. The drop prolly affected the camber more than toe-in.It has been sitting lately? It has at some point. The surface rust, which is no worse than I`ve seen on some western trucks, looks like it`s "sit in one spot" rust.I`d pay as much as $3,000 since it`s an A/C BBC with minimal rust.We love getting trucks cheap. But $3Gs is not alot for a vehicle these days. It`s only the beginning to the thousands guys are willing to dump into these trucks without giving it a second thought.I always compare a truck like this to the junk below it and what that will cost.If it was a Custom/10 in same condition w/o BBC,original family history,A/C,and low miles what would the price be?.Consider it`s unmolested, too. The new f/e work and drop is a bonus worth considering into the price. The cap will bring good money at the scrap yard, too.
The parts at a swap meet in the East would add up to my high end price. And,it ain`t no parts truck.I`d be tickled pink to get that for $1,500.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
1/4 inch toe in would make the steering twitchy... go for 1/16 to 3/16 toe in since the parts are new.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
I think Uncle beat me to the punch on this one. The owner called and told me that someone from Conyers had called wanting the truck and wanted to make sure I wasn't already on the way(which was very considerate of him). He should be well pleased with it for the price! I didn't really need it anyway. It would have been cut down and treated to a porterbuilt frontend and a step notch if I had bought it.

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
If that tailgate is as perfect as you have seen, I think you should move further west!

Re: 72 Cheyenne WIW?
Either way I don't think the guy knew what he had did he? The tailgate only had surface rust on it. It looked worse in the pic than it really was, it didn't have a dip or a ding on it anywhere. I've already got a line on a Cheyenne Super that's about 5 min from the house. Supposedly another one owner truck. It's not been advertised so I've got an edge on this one.
