Body lift Questions?

I just picked up a 72 blazer and it was another guys project. He put a 3" body lift on it and now I need to put everything back together. My question is what should I look for as far as problems? I already know that the oil line to the pressure gauge is too short, the steering seems to be in a bind at one of the knucks-it turns, but it makes a knocking noise, the shroud doesn't fit, not sure what else yet. Are these all easy fixs? Or would it be easier to just put it back to the stock height? It looks good with the lift, but I don't want a bunch of headaches, just want to have fun with it. One more question, what about the bumpers? do I need brackets to lift them?

Thanks.

Re: Body lift Questions?

I have a 3" body lift on mine. For the steering I used a u-joint at the steering box instead of the stock rag joint, this is a much better setup. As far as the bumpers go you have to cut the frame and reweld it up 3" higher. See this thread for my bumper info http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=213918

Re: Body lift Questions?

I dont like cutting fan shrouds, putting u joints on the steering like some do,making shift linkages different, raising bumpers,etc..so I just go with a suspension lift..If it was me I'd take the body lift off and put on a suspension lift.Just my opinion.

Re: Body lift Questions?

I vote to remove the body lift and go with the suspension lift.

Re: Body lift Questions?

I think I'm leaning towards lowering it back down. I did a search for bumper brackets, none to be found and I really dont want to cut the frame. I put a suspension lift kit on a 76 CJ-7 a few years back and it wasn't too bad, actually it was pretty easy aside from the rusted 30 year old bolts.
