C-notch question
Planning my disc conversion/lowering project for spring time. I'm only going to do 5" lower rear springs and was wondering what you all thought of those bolt on c-notches that LMC and Classic has.
Do they really work? Would it be better to weld them in? Besides those, what other parts would be necessary for the rear end to keep things centered? This is for a '63 SWB, link below. I've not set up a photobucket account yet |

Re: C-notch question
...I used a "c"-notch from "brothers" but it does't matter where you get it I cut my frame with a plastma cutter, but a saws-all will work just as well, and bolted it in with the provided grade 8 bolts ,I also welded vearious places on mine for security.
used a "adjustable trac-bar" and 4"drop springs(all available) work time -3 hrs +-.

Re: C-notch question

Re: C-notch question
Im pretty sure its says in lmc u "need" a notch for anything 5+, but that also depends on what kinda ride u want, if ur droppin 4 inches and loadin it every once and a while, ur gonna be ridin the bumpstops, so might as well throw it in, lol, according to statements above, it shouldnt take too long...

Re: C-notch question
i got my c-notch from classicperform.com and it fits nicely. i do recomment bolting it because the weld might crack due to the constant deflection of the frame.

Re: C-notch question
isdeleon, thanks for the pics. I was assuming the frame was cut completely but it does not appear that way in your pics.

Re: C-notch question
A good rule of thumb with installing the notch is to remove the minimum you think you need, test fit, then remove some more - if required. Also, there have been a few threads on installing notches and several members suggest drilling holes in the corners of the area you plan to remove especially if you don't plan on welding it in. A sharp corner may create a point where a crack could develop in the frame... A round corner will be a lot less prone to this possibility.

glad i could help. and there are some c-notches that do require to cut the frame completely but thats only if you want to lay frame. for what you're looking for this would be your best bet. as far as installation goes, classicperform tell you to use the c-notch as a template then cut, but drilling holes on the corners helps a lot. you can also go to http://www.classicperform.com/Instru...DF/6372CNK.pdf for the complete instructions if you'd like.
