71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

I saw a stretched cab some time ago on eBay, can't remember the exact year but it was a 67-72. I remember it having about 6" added mid door, so the dimensions of the cab looked correct - just a longer door, and it was a short bed. I have a nice 71 cheyenne super long bed that is clean and complete that I am thinking of doing a similar conversion to - stretching the cab and changing to factory dimension short bed. I'm measuring some newer trucks to try and determine what to add. Looking for any feedback from the forum on similar projects, length to stretch, opinions, etc. I like my truck and enjoy it, I am just too cramped and I think this would be an interesting project. The oringinal truck I saw was very well executed, you had to really study it to figure out what was different about it which is what I would be looking to accomplish along with the more comfortable cab. Thanks in advance for comments.

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

There used to be pics of a silver truck with what I think was 6 inches added to the doors and the rest of the cab. It was professionally done. When all the guys seen it on here, they said it would be a lot of work to get it done. You wouldn't just add to the doors, but butcher up the cab to make this work. You would have to account for all body lines, drip rail, roof lines. I think it would be a very tedious job if that's what your asking.

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

The truck you're describing sounds like the one I remember. I've spent some time on the scope of work and everything involved. I'm planning on a frame of rotisserie restore on my truck at some point and figure the stretch would add another month or so to the project with a good second donor truck. I've laid out the cuts to keep everything looking right, door controls and functions operating with stock internal compenents. Just have to decide if I want to tackle this project. Thanks for the reply, I was curious to see if anyone else was familiar with the truck. I'm new to the forum an have been really impressed with the content and projects on the site.

I think you have two different trucks there. The work in progress has a different roof line and side windows. The finished truck looks bas A$s.

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

not certain, but i think if you threw the 67-72 body on a late-model frame, 6" is about what the cab difference would be. perhaps that's where the dim. came from?

That could be, 6" puts the rear edge of the door right about at the front edge of the bed right now.

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

the roofline in the second cab looks like it was built around a factory window and window frame from another application. i would love to have that extra few inches between the and dash and a little more laid back windshield on a lovered shortend lwb frame with 67 sheet metal. i better stop now i'm geting crazy ideas. those are both nice

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

There was one running around the seattle area about 2 years ago called "legroom" The cab was stretched 5". It almost made it look like it was chopped a bit, but very well done.

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super Stretch Cab

If i had the talent or the cash for someone else to do it i think it would be the one mod that would make the truck more comfortabl then any others.I love them but they are a little tight in places.

i think that's ultimately why i switched to a blazer. acres of legroom with re-mounted seats.
