Anybody used a 1988+ hyd clutch and bellhousing for a manual conversion??

I`m wondering,too.I have a NV4500 to run in a 4wd and figure I`ll run the hydraulic linkage.

I just finished doing this.....while looking for clutch ideas, I saw the clutch master in my 1992 K2500 beater truck. It never seemed to have any problems and mounted "flat".

I used a bracket/slave setup from Novak.... I did have to cut a brace on the inside of the firewall to mount it flat. I will be watching for any flex and if I find any, I will make a plate to mount it. I used a simple bracket on the brake pedal with a shoulder bolt.

So far, so good.......it isn't on the road yet, but all seems well so far!!!

Could the cylinder been mounted lower for a straighter "push" from the clutch pedal??l

If it could, I wasn't smart enough to do it.....

I wanted to do this using the straightest "push".....one that didn't sway up and down (my setup does a little) and that is the correct length....if you went further down, your stroke would be too long for the master.....

I spent a good amount of time pushing the pedal forward and measuring the stroke at given points.....

Soo if you went further down and the stroke was too long could you build a manual stop into the clutch lever so you didn't push it too far into the cylinder??

Yes, I think you could do that, but I was going for the natural "feel" of the mechanical linkage......I did find it intersesting that the 92 K2500 had about the same pedal swing length.......

Soo if they have the same pedal swing, is the attachment point on the lever and the cylinder relationship the same on your older truck as it was on the 2500??

What tranny did you use??

I was looking at installing a Tremec TKO-600.

There is another thread in the forum I was reading last week regarding the installation of a hydraulic clutch and 5 speed tranny. A couple of different approaches in the thread.

I'm looking to do the same in the near future.

I've just installed a T56 into my 67, I used a clutch master cylinder like Misled did, but mine is out of a s10 that I picked up for $10 at a u-pull it.

I used the original bellhousing, tranny and clutch.

As far as the connection points compared to the 92........pretty close......

the trans. is a 6 speed out of my 97 TransAm, the clutch master cylinder and line to the slave cylinder is only things out of the s10.
