Wiring harness??????

I posted this question in the electrical section but no replies. Does anyone know of a good complete wiring harness for our trucks. I'm wanting a fuse block that goes into the stock location and bolts up the same way but uses new style fuses.

Re: Wiring harness??????

As far as harnesses go, M&H makes reproduction harnesses that are very good according to everyone that I have talked to that has used then. They are exact copies of the originals, with the correct colors and factory plugs. They even offer custom harnesses for added options like HEI's and so forth. So they may even offer a fuse block like you want, but you need to call them to see if that is something that they have. Otherwise, many of the vendors here carry the standard harness. Here is their link.

For the fuse block, you could use Painless Wiring's universal fuse block . Here is a link to it.

Re: Wiring harness??????

Although I don't like Painless (because they are far from painless), they are the only ones I know of at this time that have what you are looking for. AAW will have a 67-72 specific update kit out next year. If you decide stock is your route, besides M&H, AAW is another excellent choice.

Re: Wiring harness??????

I've been looking at the M&H. I reckon that the factory fuse block with glass fuses has lasted this long that a new exact replacement should be good for the long haul.....

Re: Wiring harness??????

Expensive solution--repop. You can use any 71-2 truck harness without issues if in good shape. Just look for soft insulation and limited modification. Which one do you need--inner?

Re: Wiring harness??????

Before I bit the bullet and just bought the Painless fuse box, I seriously considered the EZ wiring fuse and harness. Good price, only about $50 more than just the Painless fuse box. Wires are all labeled and everything. Even looked at one at the Monroe swap meet one time. Then, after all that, I figured, the h@@l with it, I've already replaced most of the wires anyway, I'll just replace the fuse box. Was a good mod, but its not painless. And it doesn't mount very easy either. Used the same screws, but had to drill holes for it to mount up. And its a pain in the A@@ to screw in. Also no bulkhead stuffing block included. Still need to manufacture something to fill that space. Good luck, and take pics!

www.americanautowire.com

Look for the factory-fit upgrade harnesses. A little expensive, but they include everything. BTW - none of it is painless.
