T-case to frame please help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I took a mounting bracket off a `69 blazer today and bolted it to my frame,now the bolts that go in the right side of the T-Case will not go in.I took the upper transmission mounts out & they almost line up. the mounts seem too thick,they are 1 1/8in.thick I called Carquest they only show one from `68 to `81.pn#31-2107 which is what I bought. Maybe i have to drill holes in my frame? I would appreciate any input,Thanks Philip

Do you have the correct factory crossmember for the TH350/NP205 combo?

The side mounting bracket you have from the 69 K5 may be for a Dana 20 transfer case instead of an NP205. Can't guarantee they are different, but I know the crossmember is different for a Dana 20 compared to the NP205 so likely the side bracket is different too.

thanx for the help guys, I think i need a different cross member.This truck had a v-6 4 speed,rockwell t-case from factory. When i put the v-8 cross member in i moved it ahead 2 in. & the trans. mount lined up so i thought i had it made until i got this side bracket maybe it is different also. I do some hunting for new parts tomorrow. THIS SIGHT IS GREAT LOTS OF AWSOME PEOPLE,Philip

Your transfer case might also hit the floor pan if you try to use the crossmember that you have.

Maybe it's me, but is that crossmember upside down, can't really see, don't have my glaases on... J.

If that crossmember was from a 221 then that's your problem. There's a 1 in difference in height between the 221 & the 205 crossmembers. You need to get a crossmember from a truck ( 69-72 )that had a np205 t-case, standard or auto dosen't matter there both the same. I'm not sure about the torque mount that may also be different.

I should have added, I used 1" spacers to lower my Dana 20 transfer case crossmember to fit my NP205. Otherwise the NP205 was hitting the floor like mentioned above in relation to the Rockwell T221 crossmember.

Ya, the crossmember looks upsidedown to me also.

I got a crossmember today for a 205t-case, it is one inche deeper than the original.thankyou to all of you that helped me get out of this bind,and no its not upside down,that would really put it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay high.

Thanx for the help everyone,Yukon Jack,sorry it took me so long to get back I just got my old crossmember out last night,I hope you can see the comparision pics OK. the 205 crossmember measured about 1/2 in. deeper than the t-221. I installed it today & it went together good.Y-jack I like your truck,Philip
