Stock radio Question
I have pulled two am radios out of chevys and saved all mounting brackets to install in my truck, but my truck does not have the same mounting point for said radio and speaker. I have heard about a hole in the top of the ashtray, which I have, but have not seen one with a radio installed. Is there a different bracket I need or do I have to fab something up?
Thanks Ken |

Re: Stock radio Question
There should be a small bracket fastened to the upper inside firewall where the rear of the radio ends up when installed. There should be two sheet metal screws holding the bracket on. If there is no bracket then it is possible that your truck did not have a radio originally, but there should be two dimples for locating the bracket.
Here is a picture of the small bracket as installed, (the speaker is held in place by the small bracket, also). Jim
