Moveing Motor Forward???

I am going to be setting my cab on the frame within the next few weeks. I was wondering how farr forward I need to move my motor with a 4 inch Z and 1 inch dropped cab mounts. Its a 65 CHevy with a small block. I want to move it forward enough so I dont have to cut the firewall for the distributer. Any help would be greaty appreciated and pictures are def. welcome also... Thanks ahead of time

Re: Moveing Motor Forward???

that is def. possible... just wanting to figure it out to keep from taking the cab off more than I have too... I know that I have to cut my tranny tunnel out and taht would have a factor on it...

if you run an electric ran in front of the radiator you should have the distance of the fan (that mounts to the pulley) atleast, i would say about 2". i moved mine on my 69 ahead 1", but mines not together right now.

Re: Moveing Motor Forward???

if you move it too far forward you won't have any clearance for the oil pan sump. It will hit the crossmember.

I wasn't going to post at first, figured I'd see if anyone had any actual experience on this one, but as long as you have to cut for the tranny tunnel, how much more work would it be to properly trim the firewall? you might even end up shaving some of the holes and junk on the fire wall while you are in there.... just a thought.

Re: Moveing Motor Forward???

Thanks for the input, I have already shaved the firewal so i might just set the cab on and set the motor as far forward as I can without touchin the cab..
