Rims/Tires Question redux...

Saw this ad in my local Craigslist: "Chevrolet Suburban, Truck, Tahoe, Avalanche, 6 Lug Factory Wheels with Goodyear Wrangler HP P265/70 Tires. Good thread (aprox 20K miles), wheels will accept tire pressure sensors. Comes complete ready to mount with wheels, tires, center caps, lug nuts." They're on 17" rims. Does anyone know if these would be compatible with my 1969 C-10?

Anyone? They're for a newer Chevy truck so I don't know if they'd be lug-compatible

Re: Rims/Tires Question redux...

The bolt pattern should be compatible, but you should also be concerned with backspacing and rolling diameter.
The rolling diameter of the tires that come with those wheels is 31.6 inches.
I have the six lug wheels from a late '80's full size 4x4 Jimmy on my '68 Suburban 2wd and they fit quite well.

You will need different lugnuts, as I believe the newer trucks are a metric thread pitch.

Sorry, I'm a bit ignorant to the whole wheel size thing (I'm finding out I'm quite ignorant to alot of mechanical things LOL).

Could you explain "backspacing" and "rolling diameter"? Is rolling diameter the overall diameter? If so, I'm assuming you're worried about the speedometer being off, or not?

Re: Rims/Tires Question redux...

The other thing you need to check is for the center hub diameter.IIRC the hub diameter on newer GM trucks is smaller. There has been some discussion on this in the past.I think the center hub keeps the wheel from seating againsst the drum/disc without machine work.

Re: Rims/Tires Question redux...

Ok, tried to do a google on "backspacing" but only got the more popular definition (think: keyboards )...

Can someone please define "backspacing" and "rolling diameter"

Re: Rims/Tires Question redux...

Nevermind..I found out what backspacing was via another post here...Not too sure about the rolling diameter, so if anyone can let me know if I'm right, I'd appreciate it

Gotcha...sounds like I'm just gonna have to go with my stock 15" rims for now until I can do more extensive research (I REALLY need a set of new tires to drive it)....

Thx for now
