Re: driveshaft?
Did you post this in the 4x4 forum? You might get more response there.
When I ordered my front shaft, it came with like 9 inches of travel. That is way more than the factory 1.5 inches I think you can get away with using someone elses measurements if you are buying new. I'd give you my measure, but I have a 283/4spd.

Re: driveshaft?
Tony, you really need to be specific here---ie===2wd, short bed? long bed? 4wd ? etc.

Re: driveshaft?
When I swapped my 3-speed manual to a th350 in my 1971 4x4 (chassis), I did NOT have to change driveshafts.
What GM did with 67-72 trucks that came with a NP205 transfer case is put the transfer case mount in the same place on all trucks. The transmission length differences were made up in the transfer case adapter. Shorter transmissions got longer t-case adapters. So if you are talking about a front shaft for a NP205, any 67-72 front shaft out of a NP205 t-case truck will work. If you have something other than a NP205, I can't help. If you don't know what a NP205 looks like click here:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=266278

Re: driveshaft?
thanks this is for a 2wd lwb......i went from a 18 inch long 3speed to a 21 inch long speed...but i have both driveshafts out of a 350/350 truck..was wondering if they are the same.? i looked at the one on my 72 ,but it is a 350/400 and the front shaft is way shorter.....im just trying to see what my options are, i think i will just have my original shaft cut down...but im not shure if the 3speeds have the same input shaft? also with christmas around the corner, i was trying to save a few bucks on having it cut down.....thats all i was sold 2 wrong trans and have some wasted cash in all this...i cant believe finding a 18 inch long 3speed would be so hard....so i am opted to go with the 21 inch and get it over with????
