Installing power brake booster - help??
Hey everyone. I just picked up a 69 c10 back in September. The truck came with manual drums and I just installed a disc brake kit (McGaugheys drop spindles) along with 1" drop springs from ECE. (Brake kit was purchased from Auto City Classic, Inc) . Everything was going along fine until trying to install the power booster. The rod that's coming out of the booster only goes through the firewall so much. It's about 4-5 inches short of the brake pedal. Is there a different brake pedal for power brakes vs. manual brakes? If so, can I use one from a later model pickup? Or do I have to use part of the old rod that I removed? Let me know if I'm not being clear enough about anything. Thanks.

Re: Installing power brake booster - help??
you need to get the longer rod that connects to the pedal. I pulled one off a 72, but I would think you could order one from Classic, LMC or any other brake booster supplier for our trucks

Re: Installing power brake booster - help??
The 3/4 ton boosters usually had the shorter rod, while the 1/2 tons
had the longer rod. I will tell u some options that I can think of. You can get one from the junkyard. You can weld the amout needed on to the one u have using some round stock(qualified welder of course). Or you can call the auto parts stores, Or you can call Master Power brakes which is who I used. Also you can use the search function at the top of the page for many helpful threads on brake conversions, tech etc. In the pull-down i typed in booster rod and found several. Hope this helps, and a big old howdy to you from Texas.

Re: Installing power brake booster - help??
Thanks for the responses guys. Looks like I'm missing a part. Whether or not it was supposed to come in the kit, I'm not sure. But I guess it shouldn't be too hard to find. Thanks again.
