Try this thread...I purchased one from 724x4a/cchevy. I haven't installed it yet but I am sure this is a top notch cargo/brake light. I will install this later this winter as my truck is being built. Good Luck.

Re: 3rd brake light

How about one of these? It is a flush-mount led installed from the inside and finished with the bodywork. I know it's probably not what you were looking for but I thought I'd show it off anyway.

Re: 3rd brake light

I bought it in Canada at the Old Car Centre. It is a Gearhead LED 3rd brake light. It wasn't the easiest job in the world. You cut a slot in the sheet metal that the lens fits through... I mounted it through the hole for the interior light which made it a bit of a challenge. The lens is glued in from the back then the LED is mounted behind that using studs that you install on either side of the lens. From the outside, the lens is sanded down with the sheet metal and we finished it by masking it off for the first 3 coats of color then sprayed the final 2 coats of green and clear coat over top of the whole thing. If you are looking for it you can see it but, basically, it is invisible.

Re: 3rd brake light

C10 thank you for the reply, I wanted a built in flush mounted LED 3rd brake light and yours caught my eye.

I like it.

Ihave been searching for a while online, and only have found a couple of lights that might work as a flush mounted unit. Yours is so far on htis site (that I have seen yet) that would work for me.

Re: 3rd brake light

C10-Driver I agree that is a good looking 3rd brake light. I thought
Clemson71guy was going to use an existing Cargo light. Your set up does look sweet!!

I was pretty sure that is what he was looking for too. I haven't done much research but from what I have seen, it seems there are a few vendors that carry these kits.

The cargo light replacement kits look pretty straight forward but I wanted to create something unique. I shave a lot of other things on the truck so the cargo light was going to have to go. I have seen this type of led light used on hot rods and figured it would look good on our trucks. I'm really happy with the way it turned out... It has to be one of my favorite custom touches on the truck.

clemson71guy - I expect the link that 70cst provided had most of what you were looking for but let us know if you found what you needed.

That's a sweet mod! I went with the ECE piece that goes in the cargo light. It's not near as trick but it works.

Re: 3rd brake light

Just for laughs,

Here is what I believe to be the world's first high mount brake lights, installed by my dad in his 65 C10 in about 1966.

Re: 3rd brake light

I bought a Suburban third brake and mounted it on the bed cover. It's a LED 12" bar. $15.00 at car show in Charlotte a few year's ago.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
