Post Carbs

I was trying to find a way to search previously posts on the carb subject but could not find anything. So I will ask again even though I sure it has been asked 1,000,000 times before.

402 BB stock 72 chevy
What CFM should I look for when buying a holley. I want the biggest possible performance I can get without drowning out the engine. 650 to 700 CFM? I will be adding higher performance parts in the future which should get me to 400 horsies but for now it is running stock horses....700 CFM too much? What about a Holley intake manifold and carb combo as far as p/n's?

Any suggestions?

I have a 3310-3 750 cfm Holley on my 388 stroker but it is anything but stock. I would think that 700 to 750 cfm would be about right.

I have a 600 Edelbrock on my 402 and it runs sweet, not to lean-it revese fast.I also have a 750 Edelbrock on a 396 and it runs rich, and i dont like it as much as the 600,im gonna drop the jet size and play with it.

And personally i wouldnt use a Holley, run a Qjet(if it works right)or a Carter/Edelbrock.I have couple crates full of Holleys,if i buy something with one i pull it off, even if its running good, because before long it wont, but im sure alot of people swear buy them.Id probably use one on a Street Toy,or Drag Car but not on my dailt drivers

I'd run a quadrajet over a holley any time...and I hate quadra-jets.
Get an Eldebrock.
I'd go 750.
