Turbo 400 Drain Plug Leak problem
I can't get my trans to quit leaking at the plug, I went by Auto Zone and the guy couldn't find one on the computer, so he looked through his stash in a drawer a sold me 3 different kinds (sizes) for $1.00 which woulda been nice if any of them were the right size. The PO had put a chrome pan on the tranny but I don't think that is the problem. Anybody know where to find a gasket or plug with a gasket? Thanks

Re: Turbo 400 Drain Plug Leak problem
I have never seen a 400 with factory drain plug... so I'm assuming it is an after market pan or a drain plug kit. If it was mine first I would make sure of where the leak was. at the drain plug or around the the nut it screws into. once you find out that you can either get just an oil drain plug gasket you should be able to guess close enough to get it. any auto parts store should carry them. If you are not that lucky and it is coming from around the nut then you will have to drop the pan and figure a gasket for it. If the nut is a weld in be sure to look for cracks. an over tighten can easily rip the nut part loose.
