Question Dash Electrical Problems

I'm in desperate need of info on my dash problems.
1.The fuel hand keeps falling past empty when I turn on headlights. The headlight switch is new so what else could it be?The dimmer switch?
2.Also the dash lights don't work anymore. And the generator light staying on with the high beam light.
I've racked my brain and I know it's a simple fix so help me out if you can.I'm not to proud to ask for HELP.So all help is appreciated.

grounds grounds grounds....

You'll also want to check the fuse block for corroded terminals. Mainly the parking light fuse (which powers the I/P lights.

Your dash lights are grounding through your guel guage, and your high beam light is grounding through the alt light.
A light that is not turned on, is efectivly a ground on both terminals.
Run a piece of wire from the dash metal, to the metal on the back of the inst panel. Any wire would do, but a neato steel braided ground strap would be cool though. (personally, I save the neet ones for where they will be seen, like under the hood)

Grounds for sure on the fuel gauge. My truck used to do that when I bought it and it drove me nuts trying to figure out. I just ran a ground wire from the metal back of the gauge cluster to the dash and problem gone.
