i have a 72 3/4ton gmc 4x4, now it is hard as heck to get out of park and into reverse or drive, then its hard as heck to get back into park. now it didnt start doing this till today but i havent drove her for about a month and this is the first time this year in the cold. could it be that the tranny is low on fluid i havent checked it yet, just kept her parked for the day becuase it is realy cold here right now. any advise is welcome thanks.

It could be your column. There's a mechanism that makes you have to pull back on the shifter to slide the shift link over a raised portion of the column. If you look on the engine side of the firewall there should be a spring just in front of a triangle like bracket clamped to the column. At the end of this bracket is a rod going down to your frame and tranny. Try shooting this bracket and nearby linkages liberally with WD-40 while someone pulls back and forth on the shifter... It should move freely back and forth or up and down on the column.

The truck needs some warm AZ air,send it this way!!!!!!!!!

Be sure to shoot some penetrant into the upper column by spraying through the shift lever hole as that part of the shift column can stick, also.
