Saw a cool rear treatment

I saw a nice burb tonight on the way home. It had a sort of indented area on the gate with a strip above it. The plate was in the indent and the strip above may have come off a car or suv. It had a license plate light in it and possibly the handle to open the gate.

The normal spot for the license plate on a sport bumper had a couple of pipes coming out of it.

I tried to photochop it to give you and idea. Trust me, in real, it looked very nice.

I guess the only downside is if you wanted to run a hidden hitch.

I can see something similar to this working on a truck tail gate too.

theres a swb truck runnin around my town with the pipes like your talking.. I think its a nice clean touch.

I like it, Its not like we are all graphic artist on the board. Its got a kind of "cartoonish" look to it. I know a guy thats a pretty good artist, Maybe I'll see if He could sketch up a suburban in cartoon form.

nope, but I do have plans for that area It's gonna be a Frizzled version of what Rob did. And yes I do want a hitch at some point. Plus I'm not sure if I can run my exhaust over the rearend with the step-notch...

I have kicked around the idea of running my exhaust like that on the '61 though

Nah, not a fan. I agree with Special K. I think it looks a lot better where its originally at. I'd much rather it be on the bumper to hide the hitch. Granted, the one I have is half azzed (P.O. did it). I don't see a need to accentuate the license plate...unless, of course, I had some custom plate or roll pan.

What do I care if its hard to read when the plate is flipped up while I'm using the hitch? Is it a reason for a cop to pull me over? Maybe if I towed ALL THE TIME it would be a better idea.

Also, I don't care for the rear dump exhaust. I don't like being smoked out while I'm messing with the hitch or accessing the rear hatch/gate. Plus, I guess there'd be more chance of exhaust getting into the burb if you're rolling with the hatch open. And, I've had to wipe down the garage wall when the exhaust spews all over it.

I know the truck you're talking about. It's mostly in SE Portland. The guy is an older guy and doesn't seem to want to talk much.

CG that's a great PS! I don't like the way the pipes come out back on the truck that I've seen. It looks cheesy to me- in a JC Whitney kinda style.
