Re: Nos Steps

Sounds high to me, unless your building a show truck and have to have everything GM. After market steps are still under $100 ( $65-70 ) I believe.

Re: Nos Steps

You can`t compare N.O.S. to repro.Even if quality and fit are identicle,a bonified New Old Stock factory part is a rare gem and worth about what anyone wants to ask as long as someone is willing to pay.One thing to remember, though, once you use it it`s not N.O.S. anymore. You have to ask yourself if you really need to spend the money or not.I`d look at the rest of your truck for the answer.I saw a pair of N.O.S. doors for $1,300@.I don`t shirk at these prices.I understand the game. But,I had to ask myself,"What truck would be worthy of a $2,600 pair of doors and why would such a prime truck need doors if it was that nice?"Some guys just gotta have the N.O.S.I used to and will take it over repro, still. But,I tend to go for good, straight, and solid used parts for my uses these days since I`m into building drivers these days.N.O.S. is money in the bank, though.

Re: Nos Steps

As these trucks become more of the icon that some writers say they are, and as the aftermarket parts suppliers respond to parts requests, we should see better quality stuff become available. Think back to the days when Tri-5's were becoming hot stuff to see how that happens. Camaro/Firebirds are there, now. 53-56 F-100's are there, so it's only a matter of time until we should be able to shop from the better grades of parts, not just those that are intended to keep them on the road as "just old trucks".

Geeze, I hope I'm still alive and have the money when it happens.
