Re: My 69 Stepside
the door dropped a good couple inches, not because the pins were bad. it was because there being no rocker and the A pillar rotted off the bottom, the A pillar moved all over with the door...
started cutting out the rotted floor... new pieces tacked in place... replaced the cab corner the more hammered on the floor pans, the more rust fell out of the roof... the start of making a one piece cowl induction. which now i look at it and think that it was a bad idea... |

Re: My 69 Stepside
almost done with the hood...
the roof replacement finished the body work on the cab and then it sat like this for about 5 months. i lost interest and money, new girlfriends are bad during big projects... my freshly painted engine i painted it orgasm orange. it started out as nissan organic orange but then i added more orange and i little green tint to make it pop more... i got the body pretty much done and ready for paint then once again i lost interest and money and it sat for a good 4 months outside like this... ill post more later... Re: My 69 Stepside
thanks. yeah, the cowl hood started as the stock one. my cousin had a fiberglass cowl hood and i tried it on and it fit like a$$, imo. my dad said it would be more feasible to buy a scoop and mold it on. so i found one i liked and i molded it on. i had to put relief cuts in to make it curve with the hood. yeah our hoods arent that flat. its held down with a two part epoxy and the back opening grill i made from a factory s10 grill(which you can see in pic of my dash.) it took alot of time to do and alot of duraglass. but it started to bubble a little bit after being painted for 2 years. so i gotta fix it, so the truck might be getting two-toned. thanks...

Re: My 69 Stepside
You have done a lot of great work on the truck. It will be really cool to see how the rest of it comes together.
You did good.

Re: My 69 Stepside
That this is sweet, but with the upgrades mentioned above... it's only going to get better! Can't wait to see that old 50's dash finished an painted in the cab.... will give it a totally different look. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Re: My 69 Stepside
The build is coming along nicely even with the set backs and delays. I know all about the girlfriend/wife deals and how projects get sidetracked because of them.
OFF TOPIC but.... I sold a really nice 68 Nova I built from the ground up after pulling it from a field after my divorce...I had pulled the engine and tranny to do a backhalf job with narrowed Dana 60 and hand built rear section by my Dad and I with ladder bars and coil overs and aluminum work from the frt seats back. Once the separation and divorce were going on the car sat with no engine or tranny and a 90% completed back half job on it and never got to race it like that. After the divorce I decided to sell the car minus engine/tranny so I could buy a boat me and my 2 sons ages 5-15 could use instead of me having a race car. After a year at a job I had making great money I wished I would have never sold the car but like the 3 years my sons and I had with our boat at the lake.
