Question Tire Question

I have a set of swampers for my 84.If I put them on my truck(which The motor is out of)will they have permanent flat spots in them or should I just be more patient?(being patient is DEFINETLY not one of my strong points!)

Re: Tire Question

How long till you get it driveable again? A month,a year, more? If it was only going to be a month or so I might put them on but if they were a big tire I might leave them off till after I put a motor in so the truck is a little lower to the ground to make putting the motor in a little easier...My tires get flat spots you can tell are there when driving, after 2-3 weeks of sitting...

Re: Tire Question

I`ve never seen flat spots not round out after driving.I`ve had trucks sit fo years, then drive with no problems.Radials aren`t nearly as bad about flattening as bias.

Re: Tire Question

I'm hoping to have the motor done and back in by June.I'll know they'll flat spot overnight I just don't want permanent flat spots. But it sounds like I should be safe putting them on.

Oh yeah, back-in-the-day before lift laws, I ran several different sets of the old bias-ply mud tires on different trucks. They all would round-out eventually by driving them. 40" Regul Trailblazers on a big block K30, LWB, a Detroit Locker, a 465 trans and sub-zero temps...it took a while for the thump to stop. That truck was a handful in the winter, and my only vehicle at the time. It started when nothing else on the block would though.
