radiator mounting question

i am to the point of the build on my 57 that i am positioning the engine / radiator. i am using an 81 camaro front clip with chevy 4.3 v-6. when i got the radiator mount / front fenders positioned i found the radiator the previous owner installed is positioned where the lower radiator outlet is above the level of the water pump inlet.
is this OK or does the lower radiator outlet need to be down below the water pump inlet?
i would like to fix this now if i need to, during the fabrication stage rather than later when i found out it doesnt cool properly due to a mistake.
i know - i know - i have got to get some photos of my build up here!
