WTB a mechanic...Monroe
I think most of you local guys know that my 73 3/4 ton 4x4 died out at the swap meet in October. I got a bunch of good ideas on what may be wrong from you. I took the easy way of just tossing a cap, rotor and module on it, it still wouldn't start.
I don't need the truck so instead of pursuing it any further I just left it in the barn thinking I would get to it later. Well later has come and gone and its still sitting in the barn, and I cant get motivated to mess with it. I want to get it running again so I can sell it. Its a pretty decent truck to just let sit and not be put to use by someone. Is there anyone in the area that wants to make some nice green cash? I just want to pay someone to fix it. You will have to come out to Monroe to work on it. You can let me know here or via pm. |

IM a advisor/technician in kirkland.... You put a cap/rotor/ and module in it, and no starty? THeres somre really quick things you can do to narrow stuff down. Check for spark, then check for fuel.... I have a feeling your nto getting spark. |

Yes I have gotten those recommendations from people. I really don't want to mess with it myself. I just want to pay someone to take care of it. I wanted to try the board first. If there are no takers there is a mechanic in town I trust. I would rather give money to a board member though. Keep it in the family so to speak

I love those jobs, but the commute is a little far. Are you really ready to pay someone $100 to spray a puff of starting fluid in the carb, then go get a can of gas?
Somebody go spend 20 minutes figuring it out! and be sure to charge at least/hr.

Sounds like you need to have a get-together. Look at trucks, talk about trucks. "By the way let's look at my old truck in the barn"

What did it do when it died? just stop running? did you check all the wires? are you sure it's gettin fuel? did you check the hot wire on your distributor? maybe it's not getting power there for you aren't getting spark...just a few ideas...stuff my dad would have told me to check...

Re: WTB a mechanic...Monroe
Thanks for the suggestions. But I think Ill just pop it on the trailer and drag it into town. Drop it off in the morning and drive it home in the evening...simple.
Its funny how taking the time to do stuff on my "hobby" cars and trucks is all good, but my other stuff I don't even like messing with. Wash and clean em when they are dirty, take em somewhere when they need service...weird huh? |
