long term parking...
unfortunatly, a little too late to save this years carb rebuild... i had already stripped out all the wiring and now shes not going to be cranking for a while.
i was thinking about the tires tho. they are new, probably about 50 miles on them since i got them on last summer. should i bother jacking my truck up and getting some stands under it, or is that really going to matter? |

Re: long term parking...
My truck sat for a couple of years without moving and the tires got dried and cracked just from sitting. So definitely cover them up if you can.
I've been told that getting them off the ground will help also. And also read where someone suggested using armor all on the tires for protection. Might try that also. |

If it's going to be more than a year, then you oughta put it on jack stands

Re: long term parking...
if i do put it up on stands, should i bother deflating the tires or anything else like that? also, where should i put the stands in the front. under the frame, i would assume?

Re: long term parking...
put it on jackstands, the reason being it will keep em from rotting, and stop flat-spotting them. DONT PUT THE STANDS ON THE FRAME. I've herd its bad to hang the suspension out for a winter or what have you. leave the kacks on the lower control arms, and on the axel out back.
...its what i do.

Re: long term parking...
69halfton is correct on both comments.
I say a year on hard pavement is about all you'd want it to sit due to flat spots. And leaving the suspention dangling is never a good idea over an extended period. |
