Thumbs up new here! need some info on truck project.

Hi all! First post here.

I Am wanting to build up a late 60's to early 70's Chevy truck. I found a pic on here of a truck that i love. I love the hole look of it. I posted a pic of it below. I just wanted to know about the truck ( year etc. ) And what mods were done to it. This is the look im going for minus the wheel, i'm thinking cragar wheels.

Im looking to spend around 2 grand on a truck and then sink in another 2 grand into it ( i wont pay for paint, i have a friend who paints ). Think that will cover the mods and such? Im hoping to find a rust free truck in semi good condition for the 2ish grand. Let me know guys! thanx!

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! You should realize that a budget is a powerful thing, but you have to plan carefully and look for deals.

COST $100K........TIME in years0

COST $10...........TIME in years100

Its kind of a sliding scale

For $2k you can get a quite nice truck that doesn't run.
Or a rusty old beater with a real good powertrain
Beaters that don't run are sometimes free.
I think if you make good choices, and are patient, and motivated you have a good shot at having a truck that drives well, and has that look, but there will be some rough edges, and it won't compare to some of the dazzling wonder trucks you see here. At that price I would expect to do a lot of work yourself. A lot of people spend 2K on wheels and tires, and feel like they got a bargain....

Happy hunting, and welcome to the board.

Re: new here! need some info on truck project.

if youre patient and search swap meets youll find next to new stuff for dirt cheap instead of blowing your budget on brand new mail order parts. youll be saving yourself a lot of money it may take longer to find the parts but youll need to decide which is more important time or money.

Re: new here! need some info on truck project.

The key to getting into a truck on a budget is to hold off for the right truck & take your time doing the work. I have LESS than 2K in mine, including purchase price...
