Re: header paint

I've always had good luck with Eastwood header paint. I've used their gray and black with good results.

Re: header paint

I bought a gallon of silver metallic boiler paint about 15 years ago, only use it on headers and exhaust manifolds and it has lasted this long and ALOT of restored cars/trucks. It is good to 3000, (yes 3000) degrees. brushes on and dries fast. Label is gone and I don't remeber the name, but I got it at a heating supply warehouse in Louisville, Ky. Try a google search. Jerry

Re: header paint

Don't use a primer, it isn't heat resistant. VHT is supposed to be one of the best hi-temp rattlecans available. I've had good luck with it, but haven't tried it on headers. You do have to have a super clean surface to get it to stick.

I've tried some of the header coatings, haven't seen any that would last for more than a few years. But my trucks all get parked outside, which doesn't help matters.
