Re: swb 1/2 ton crewcabs

i think there have been 1 or 2 on the board. But I would friggen pimp one no problem. I think they are slick looking. Would have to have an lsX based engine though

Re: swb 1/2 ton crewcabs

my friend had one but he traded it for a shortbed regular cab because it was faster, haha, with some smaller wheels(smaller than his 22's) he could hang with another kids truck, man, 15's is fast, (pause) NOT

Re: swb 1/2 ton crewcabs

I really want one or maybe a 2wd reg cab short dually, I'd be willing to trade my 2wd Blazer for one! I've wanted a 2wd blazer for a looong time.

i have one put together with a 4/6 drop 20x10s and 20x8s now has 454 but the big block will be coming out in a few days and replaced with a LT1/4L60 out of a 95 caddy.

p.s. in this case the swb will stand for short wide base not short wheel base lol

Re: swb 1/2 ton crewcabs

I'd like to do one with a stepside bed some day. Convert to 5 lug rear axle and front rotors, and run 3/4 ton springs. I'd use a 73-80 front clip as well. Run some 15x8 Rally's with BFGoodrich Radial T/A's....nice.

Only thing that scares me is turn circle. I've been told that all these trucks, whether as short as a blazer or as long as a crew cab long bed, they all have the same amount of steering angle. My regular cab long bed has a barely adequate turn circle, I couldn't imagine it with a few extra feet added to it.

I thought you were going to build a later model Crew Cab? Have you seen the white one in Lebanon? I would like to have it but it is really rough and they want $6000 for it too!

My crew cab dually is a 1 ton and has king pins rather than ball joints (1 ton 2wd have king pins, the 1/2 and 3/4 have ball joints). That seems to let it turn shorter than a comparable 3/4 ton. At any rate, one you get used to driving a long rig, it becomes second nature. You just don't put yourself in situations that will be hard to maneuver in.
Hmm...so if I ever build one of these beasts, then I need to make 6 lug 4x4.

I know what you mean about avoiding tough maneuvering situations though.

ElGracho,... My '89 1-ton 2wd crew cab has balljoints,... not king pins. They cross reference over to the same ball joint as the '87 3/4 tons. I'm planning on using ECE's "3/4 to 1/2 ton" conversion drop spindles. Which year are you talking about the 2wd 1-tons having king pins?

I totally screwed that up. I got 2wd and 4wd backwards. I'm thinking Dana 60 vs. Dana 44 or 10 bolt. I think my dually still turns kinda sharp compared to the 3/4 ton crew cabs I've driven, maybe it's because of the offset dually wheels.

I'm working on a swb crew but I'm keeping the 1 ton 4wd suspension. I'm about 3/4 through with the frame work.

There's one runnin' round in Chickasha ~ black primer crew SWB hard lowered with black 20ish custom rims ~ it goes by my work a couple times a day, gets me aroused every time I see it.
