Air Ride for the Rear?

Working on my 67 2WD, LWB with coils, wanting to know what is the easyist and cost efective way to bag the rear. I am lowering the front 2" with drop springs, and want to lower the rear (appox) 3". I still want to be able to tow a 20' travel trailer from time to time. Found these on eBay:

ARNOTT AIR SPRINGS 100 MM STRAIGHT SLEEVE AIR SPRINGS SERIES, PAIR 14" MAXIMUM EXTENSION! THESE ARE CUSTOM AIR SPRINGS DESIGNED FOR VARIOUS APPLICATIONS. PART# 10014VR.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Ride height 10" Max inflated diameter 5.7"
Minimum compressed height 6" Full extension 14" 1/4" NPT air inlet 1500 lbs. @ 100 PSI.

I don't know if the 1500 lb will be enough for towing? Any advice would be great.

Re: Air Ride for the Rear?

Trailing arm trucks should use a double-convoluted bag if it is being used in the factory coil-spring location.

Firestone 2500#/2600# & Slam RE 6's/7's can be used & they bolt-in w/minimal fab work.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Any details or links for this?

Re: Air Ride for the Rear?

There's a good installation 'how-to' in the FAQ's section from board member 'MrShelly'. It contains excellent pics which explain much more that typed words.....

I've purchased bags from both AirRide & Suicide Doors.

In MrShelly's install, did he bolt the bag straight to the trailing arm and frame in the rear?

There didn't appear to be a bracket of any sort??

Thanks,
Jeff

That's how mine are done-- no brackets. If you don't want to hassle w/drilling the required holes in the frame, it's easier to use a bracket on one end (mounting holes + air-fitting).

Re: Air Ride for the Rear?

I'm not afraid of cutting up my truck, believe me

So Scoti, if you use the double convolute bags in the factory location, with no brackets, how high does the truck sit, aired up, vs, aired down, vs the factory springs?

Is it pretty close to the factory ride height when aired up?

Thanks,
Jeff
