Cheyenne super spid label. Your opinion...

Just looking through some old doors and ran across this one. Tell me what you think. A couple of things look odd to me, but we will see what you guys think. Sure wish i could have seen the whole truck.

an optional front axle... on a 2 wheel drive truck?
Dome light switches are included in the cheyenne and super, the acc guages came on a super, tire option is listed twice, I'm 99% sure the upper and lower trim was standard on a super, chrome hub caps were included too.
A few oddities there.

Re: Cheyenne super spid label. Your opinion...

Yea, its a weird one Eric, The VIN and Model are both for a 2WD but the front spring and axle make it a 4x4? I have some info that says that the DG6 code is some kind of passenger side mirror. U63 is the AM radio, who knows why it isn't typed out. Its got the CST and the CHEY Sup codes both listed, thats not real common. Same with the paint, you usually see the color code or "special paint", not both. I went through a bunch of labels and I have a few original Super labels with the hubcaps listed on it but I agree with Andy on the upper and lower trim.
I think this was a Friday at quitting time label
I would love to have seen this truck.

Jeff

Re: Cheyenne super spid label. Your opinion...

That was the one thing that caught my eye was the 2wd vin with a front axle. I also don't recall seeing a cheyenne super with a white roof, and white below the lower trim. If i am reading it correctly. Wouldn't the white normally be between the upper and lower moulding? Also, what is the gvw instructions? It seems to be a 1/2 ton... Thanks for the opinions so far.

Re: Cheyenne super spid label. Your opinion...

The stuff Andy mentioned all caught my attention since it`s all included in the package. The hub caps may be full wheel covers.

The auto tranny is listed as an M38 instead of the M49.
I know on some of the car assembly lines, the Th350 was an M38 and the TH400 was an M49, but most of the trucks (and all the GM lit I have gotten my hands on) list BOTH the TH350 and Th400 as an M49.

Re: Cheyenne super spid label. Your opinion...

Maybe somebody ordered a certain style truck and the factory took one that was already together and added the rest of the options listed and then reprinted the SPID label. I guess we'll never know.

Re: Cheyenne super spid label. Your opinion...

A good question has been raised there Tim

The burb's SPID.
The longhorn has no tire listed, my old longhorn didn't either, and I can't remember what the GMC listes, and the pics are probably lost forever. (just searched my harddrives for them, can't locate the photos. )
