Wow, thats absolutely great you're giving it away. I could use it, unfortunately Virginia is a bit far to travel for a cab.

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

as far as my knowledge goes they are the same. just remove the hood braket that are on 86 cab and just use other ones from 76.

Scruby: can it wait till next spring or late summer? I need the cab and if it's in as good shape as you say it is, I'll come down and get it.

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

Hmm I can try and put it to the side (ill just have to keep it safe from the perentals they might not like having it sitting but to me i could do that) ill have to build something for it to sit on and be rolled around so it doesnt sit on the ground or anything. Ill take pics this weekend is that coool so you know for shure. ill remove the rubber floor mate so you get a reall good idea. But the sooner the better (ive got alot of stuff sitting around) trying to clean out the area.

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

Scruby: That would be great. It will be a long haul to come down there from here but if the cab is in as good shape as you say it is, it will be well worth the trip AND the price is right, you can't beat free. Also it will give me an excuse to get out of here for a while. As far as building something to sit it on, use 2 pallets side to side and slip 2x4's in (4 about 6' long) between the slats and screw them in from both sides and put a caster in each corner and 2 in the center between the other 2. (3 on each side) I have 1 I use to move cabs around in my shop. I usually lay the cab on it's back though, but for a trip it will have to be upright sitting on pieces of 6x6 and 4x4. For now just sit it any way you can so it won't get damaged and I'll bring the lumber with me to secure it for the trip back. I'll see what I can do about getting down there as early as possible. I figure as soon as the weather breaks. I'll be driving my restoration job to pull the trailer & I know you know I won't drive it on winter roads with all the salt and sand N.Y. & PA put down during the winter.
Your giving me the cab for free, SO, honor dictates I offer you something in return. If you need anything let me know and if I have it or can get it, it's yours. OK?
Send me some photos of the bottom of the cab paying attention to the rocker panels and cab corners as well as the floor. Thank you.
I have an 86 as a spare vehicle and I was going to scrap it because the cab is REALLY shot, now I can bring it back to life and get it back on the road again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much. Jim

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

Sruby, I'll be there for sure. Am makeing major progress with my truck. I'll send you some pictures when she's done and you'll get to see it when I come down. I looked at the map this morning and see your due west of DC. It's a toss up which way I come down, I95 or I81. When I drove 18 wheelers I used both extensively. I hate I95, to many cars, it's a toll road and the beltway around DC could drive you to drink. I81 is little more than 2 lane blacktop, but it's more scienic and laid back and you have to keep a sharp eye for deer, it's a real slaughterhouse in the fall up in PA. Either way it's about 1000 miles round trip, no big deal 10 hrs down and 10 back. I might just stop in Scranton PA and visit with some of my friends at my old terminal there and possibly sleep there instead of trying to do it all in one shot, especially if we visit for a while after the cab's loaded on the trailer. I ain't as young or as brain dead as I was back then, LOL. We'll have to talk on the phone and get aquainted better than we can here. Hope to talk soon, jim

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

sounds like a plan to me i have pictures. IM uploading them now and going to post them. (ass i removed the cab i got picks of the cab corners and rockers and floor.. As i stated befor cab corners do need a patch but it only outer inner corner is fine. But when i removed the rubber floor mat is when i could see more. (it has rust in driver side not really bad could use a piece of metal to fix the problem. youll see what im talking about when i post.

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

Ok first 3 are just over veiw images.

the interior, Im still debating on takeing the tilt column.

Here are the more detailed pictures.

The driver side cab corner

passanger cab corner

driver side rocker pasanger is the same (no rot on back sidesof rockers)

Front corners of cab both sides are the same

the driver side floor this was what i mentioned earlier

Closer veiw Passanger side has a smaller version which is a more easier repair (will have photo soon)

Underside

Re: Any one interested-Free cab-Nokesville Va

Sruby: Morning guy. Pics look pretty good. It looks like someone, at some point put in some floor panels underneath. All things considered it's not a bad looking piece. It has A\C so that saves me the trouble of trying to get a non A/C cab to fit an A/C cab. I would appreciate it if you left the tilt colunm in it. Since I got hurt I have had to change the colunm in my truck to tilt so I can drive it OK. I have to change body positions often as I drive so my back doesen't "lock up", and tilt is a God send where this is concerned. If you can I would like you to send me your e-mail address. I'll be there to pick her up as we discussed before, consider her gone. Many thanks jim. E-mail is jmcclur2@nycap.rr.com Hope to talk later.
