My truck is running really crummy when cold, and has a divorced choke.

I am unable to see how it works.....

I looks like it is all there but I can't find a connection inside the little metal cover for the rod itself.

I understand the info on adjusting it [bend the little rod to make the throw longer or shorter] but not how to connect it. My cover is a little shorter and a little longer than the pic, below, but looks like it would work the same.

Does the manifold end of that rod just 'ride' freely on the spring, with the cutout for the rod passage corralling it?

What is the tiny hitch pin for and where does it go? Mine doesn't have one.

bolt the spring onto the manifold. slide rod into spring then snap cover on. the clip holds the rod to the carb.

I can't find a hole in the spring... my choke rod is held on to the carb by the funny washer- no clip anywhere?

The rod slips into the rolled up hole on the spring. The hairpin is not used on the choke rod, not sure why it was included.

I found a hole formed in the very outer end of the spring, and put the rod there, then replaced the cover. The choke seems to be operating correctly now, will no for sure when I get home from work.
There is a little ring cut into the spring end of the rod. That may be where the hairpin goes.

Started the truck dead cold and it idled fine, tho a little fast. Worked fine to work and then home again.
