i was searching ebay and came across this 1985 chevy extended cab pickup. was this an option from the factory, a conversion, or did someone hack up a few trucks to make this? ebay auction # 280186274618

Conversion and coach companies built these.

Re: 85 Chevy X-tended Cab

I posted this same truck a while ago. These were an aftermarket conversion. Not many of these were made, and this one was all dolled up at that! I wish I could buy it, but not anytime soon. There is one around where I work, that doesn't have the small side window.....it looks a little odd. David

Re: 85 Chevy X-tended Cab

It just looks weird to me that they only extended it so much that you could recline your seat back a little more or toss slightly more junk back there. I don't see the extra space being worth the trouble of conversion compared the 88-98 extended cabs where the back is quite roomy and adults can ride in the back comfortably.

Re: 85 Chevy X-tended Cab

if you do a search here i believe there were a few other pics of these extended cabs fully restored and done up .. someone did a thread on them a couple of years back and some were extended more than this particular one ... most were done by a coach company but there have been ones that were done in someones shop and those cabs were a bit bigger

Re: 85 Chevy X-tended Cab

They built those trucks out of factory longbed trucks. They just shortened the front part of the bed to make room for the longer cab. I think these trucks would look cool with a factory "shortbed" installed. The the distance behind the rear wheels wouldn't look so out of purportion. Then,... slam it on air ride!
