You have GOT to see this!

For those of you that read Classic Trucks magazine, in the Feb. 2008 issue there is a Maroon 68 that looks pretty much stock with air bags. In the article they mention that he is a welder by trade and built his own headers, intake, and valve covers. Well I was looking for some pics of that truck online and found the owner's photo album from when he was building it. This guy does some amazing work, if any of you Ohio members run into him at a car show, please get him to join our site!

BTW, there is also an article on the truck in the Feb 2008 issue of Sport Truck also.

Re: You have GOT to see this!

I saw that truck in both mags and liked it quite well. I wasn't that impressed with it but I liked it. Now I'm impressed! This man put some serious hours and thought into the build of his truck and it shows!

Re: You have GOT to see this!

I visited w/him @ the '06 Good-Guys Columbus show. Very nice, very humble, & very skilled. The truck looks killer in person & the detail work is much more evident vs. pics.

For the '07 show, he had just re-finished some under-hood repairs that were needed because of a small fire. You would have never known w/o his pics showing the before/after damages.

Re: You have GOT to see this!

There are a lot of trucks I've called inspirational, but this one takes the cake. Who knows if I'll ever be that good... but god knows I'll keep trying till I am. Simply incredible.

My buddies dad who lives in Georgia is a big Z enthusiast and made an intake for his son's 280. It blows me away that people are able to do this

Re: You have GOT to see this!

I saw the mag in wally world, and I was looking at the cover, it had tips about the cab repair, like the rust issues mine has. I decided to get it and I saw that truck while looking through it cause it was 2 or 3 in the morning, I did not leave walmart til 12:30 or later. That truck looks brand spanking new!!!

Re: You have GOT to see this!

Yeah, that article in Classic Trucks did not do that truck or its owner justice. I'm sure they are limited to the number of pages, pics, etc. but geez! Makes you wonder what else we've missed in the past.

You sat in Walmart looking at a magazine for 10+ hours?? Just buy the mag next time!

I left my job at 10:30 pm, I got gas from the wally world gas station at almost 11 that night. I talked to my friends mom that works at walmart, and telling her to get any 67-72 chevy or gmc truck. She also gets discounts, and she works in the toy department.

I think he missed the target when he gave it such a subdued look. He did an amazing amount of work, then put it on gray steel wheels. The interior is just as subtle with the stock looking later seat covered in factory cloth.

Really, really nice truck, but it needs some bling to draw attention to it's details.

It looks like one of those rides that does not draw any attention to itself but the quality and workman ship do once you get up close..

Re: You have GOT to see this!

In the Classic Trucks magazine article, they specifically said that their first view didn't generate a lot of interest, but the subsequent looking showed them a lot and that is what lead to the feature. It's a beautiful truck. The subtleties are what sets it apart from the rest.

Very nice but, if I could have used my old plants stampin' presses, dies, etc. I would have done it also. He has a full machine and stamp shop to use. At least he didn't pay for the labor. And the wheels does do it justice not everyone is into billet. Excellant workmanship!!!!!!
