Tailgate

This was a part I was saving for my own project but it's taking a different turn and the tailgate is no longer needed. It came from the low miles truck I parted out and is in better shape than any I've had before. It does have some dents and dings but they are mostly on the inside. There is no rust that I see. I hope the pics show the condition well cause it's a pretty nice one. I'd rather not ship but will if I have to. Freight and crating will be at the buyers expense shipped from 75070. $300, post here if you want it.

I was kinda thinking the same thing.

I am in need of a good tailgate. But not willing to pay $300 for a used one.

If you drop your price down to $150 put me in line please.

You can get a new one but I would only use it for a show truck because if you want to use the gate as it should be used you will not be happy when it bends. I bought a whole truck just for the tailgate and would not buy the after market gate. This is just my opinion but I have seen how the gates hold up and I would rather have an original gate. Just my .02

1966gmc and 72chevyAZ, keep your comments about his price to yourself, AS PER BOARD RULES. Aftermarket gates are junk too!!!

Re: Tailgate

bighead...I say start out with a price that you are comfortable with. If you get your asking price great...if not you can adjust if you want to. I agree that original gates are much stronger than repops. Good Luck!

Re: Tailgate

Thanks for your support guys. I was unsure if I wanted to turn loose of the tailgate but thought I'd offer it on the forum before trying ebay.

Re: Tailgate

I apologize. Excuse me for being ignorant. I didn't know that the repop tailgates were that bad. It is a very nice gate.

Thumbs up Re: Tailgate

I agree 100%, i'd spend 300 for a nice used gate before i'd spend a dime on an aftermarket P.O.S. my fat a$$ will fold an aftermarket gate like a dixie cup in a hurricane.
your price isn't out of line at all in my opinion.

Re: Tailgate

I just spent $300 on a gate that was in about the same condition. I'm not a die hard original guy and I am happy to use re-pop when it's decent stuff, but you couldn't pay me to take a re-pop tailgate...THEY SUCK!!

Every original tailgate I've seen is bowed, but I guess the thing repros would bend a little quicker.

Re: Tailgate

Welcome to the board rawraw. The price of $300 is just for the tailgate. I was hoping to sell locally and not have to ship but if you really want it I'll try to help. Crating will run around $30 for the wood and stuff I'm guessing. The cost to fedex it to Newark, CA using the cheapest service is estimated at $100. That's using 80 pounds and 68"x28"x8" to guestimate the cost. I'm at work now and can't promise this is accurate. Might be more or less??? Please let me know if you want to continue. big
